Engine Type

The Gladiator was powered by a variety of engines throughout its production run. It was initially equipped with a 3.7-liter, six-cylinder engine that produced 140 horsepower. Later models were available with a 4.2-liter, six-cylinder engine that produced 112 horsepower, a 5.0-liter, V8 engine that produced 150 horsepower, or a 5.9-liter, V8 engine that produced 230 horsepower.
Transmission Type

The Gladiator was available with either a three-speed manual transmission or a four-speed manual transmission. Later models were also available with a three-speed automatic transmission. The transmission was mounted directly to the engine and drove the rear wheels through a transfer case.
Transfer Case
