The second-generation Jeep Compass, also known as the MP (Multi-Purpose) Compass, was introduced in 2017 and took the SUV market by storm. The new Compass was also larger in size, providing more space for passengers and cargo.

Engine Type

The Jeep Compass MP is available with two engine options:

1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo Petrol Engine: This engine produces a maximum power of 162 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

2.0-litre MultiJet Turbo Diesel Engine: This engine generates a maximum power of 173 hp and a peak torque of 350 Nm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Transmission Type

As mentioned above, the Jeep Compass MP is available with both manual and automatic transmission options. The 6-speed manual transmission is standard on the 1.4-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine variants. The 9-speed automatic transmission is available as an option on the 2.0-litre diesel engine variant.

Transfer Case

The Jeep Compass MP 4×4 variant comes equipped with a Jeep Active Drive 4×4 System. This system includes a transfer case that can send up to 100% of the torque to any one wheel, depending on the driving conditions. The system also includes a Selec-Terrain Traction Management System that allows the driver to select different driving modes such as Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud, and Rock, depending on the terrain.

Front Axle

The Jeep Compass MP comes with an independent McPherson strut front suspension system that provides excellent handling and ride comfort. The front axle also features a stabilizer bar that helps reduce body roll during cornering.

Rear Axle

The rear axle of the Jeep Compass MP is a Chapman strut suspension system that provides good stability and handling. The rear axle also features a stabilizer bar that helps reduce body roll during cornering.
