Engine Type

The DJ was powered by a variety of engines over the course of its production. The early models came equipped with a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder engine that produced 72 horsepower. Later models featured a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that produced 75 horsepower, and in some cases, a 3.7-liter, six-cylinder engine that produced 140 horsepower.
Transmission Type

The DJ was available with a three-speed manual transmission as standard, while a four-speed manual transmission was also offered as an option. Some models were also available with a three-speed automatic transmission.
Transfer Case

The DJ was equipped with a two-speed transfer case that allowed the driver to shift between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive modes. The transfer case had a low range for off-road use and was controlled via a lever on the floor of the vehicle.
Front Axle

The front axle of the DJ was a Dana 25 or Dana 27 axle, depending on the year and model. Both axles were semi-floating and had a maximum capacity of 2,500 pounds.
Rear Axle

The rear axle of the DJ was a Dana 44 axle, which was a full-floating axle with a maximum capacity of 3,500 pounds. Some early models featured a Dana 41 axle, which had a lower capacity of 2,500 pounds.

The DISPATCHER JEEP® (DJ) was a versatile and rugged light-duty truck that was used for various commercial purposes. It was powered by a range of engines and was available with a manual or automatic transmission. The DJ featured a two-speed transfer case, a Dana front axle, and a Dana rear axle, which gave it excellent off-road capabilities.
